Survival Gear-3

These shoes are made for singin'

Do you have a pair of shoes that you wear all of the time? A pair of shoes that feel universally comfortable wherever you are and that you can wear all day? That's what these shoes are for me. I have all kinds of foot issues from plantar fasciitis. (it's spelled with two i's, weird!) to Morton's Neuroma. Also my feet are as flat as a duck's. However, since I started wearing these shoes, my feet feel SO much better. I can be on my feet for 8-10 hours a day, hike 10-15 miles, and have zero discomfort. They are not the cheapest shoes on the market, and are built for hiking and running on trails, but I highly recommend them. The no laces feature is a huge selling point as well. I never knew how much I appreciated no dangling laces until I wore these. Give them a try. Worst case scenario, you have a pair of weird, spacey-looking shoes to wear for a year or so. If nothing else, they're a great conversation piece, but I'll always have a pair in my closet from now on. (Click heading or image for link to purchase-Paid Link)

We can work it out

I've struggled my entire life to stay in shape. This will be the subject of future posts, however, this company has helped me to find a way to work out regularly on the road. If you struggle to find ways to exercise the road, this I worth a look. It's essentially Netflix for fitness. Some programs require weights, some can't really be done in an upper-floor hotel room, and others are for the yoga fans out there. It's $100 dollars a year, which is cheaper than any gym, and doesn't require any travel time. You can exercise in your undies, or naked if you want to throw caution to the wind. You may be contacted by a trainer when you sign up, but you can absolutely just sign up for the service which can be accessed on your phone, tablet, or computer. You can also download workouts to take with you wherever you go. It's not available in all countries, but between the current availability and the download feature, I've been able to make it work everywhere I've gone so far. Full disclosure, the link provided is to my wife's page. She is a coach with Beachbody, but will not bug you if you're not looking for information or the other products the company sells. I am technically listed as a "coach" as well, but again, only use it for the workouts. (Click heading or image for link to purchase-Paid Link)

It's just water weight

It's almost impossible to lift on the road unless you have access to a gym. Assuming you're going the Air BnB route, a gym won't be part of the picture. Though a little clumsy and not the most sturdy weights, these collapse and are light so they can be easily stored in your luggage. If it means the difference between bailing on your program and staying on track, these are worth it. Click on the picture for the link to Amazon. Pump it up

If you want a more sturdy version of portable weights, this is the way to go. These can easily be stowed in a car when traveling to a gig by Car and you don't have to lug 12-16 individual free weights with you. They do occasionally get stuck in the holders where they rest, and sometimes the gears jam as you adjust the weights, but again, much better than the alternative. They are a little bulky and not as streamlined as most other free weights, but they go up to 52 lbs, and I can't find anything anywhere near. the price or ease of use that does what these do. Coming in at a pricey $299, watch for sales. I've seen them up to $50 off, but there's a chance they will be discounted even more with manufacturer's coupons or holiday sales.
